Ramón was born in Trujillo, in northern Peru, with a natural passion for caring for nature. From a young age, he enjoyed getting involved in the care of plants and animals, and his passion led him to graduate as a Biologist and complete a Master’s in Science with a specialization in Environmental Management. He furthered his education by completing specialization courses in leadership and a postgraduate (MBA).
Throughout his life, Ramón embraced the Christian faith, which led him to pursue theological training. This deepened his understanding and equipped him with over 20 years of experience in leading groups of all ages, helping him develop strong natural leadership skills.
Ramón joined A Rocha Perú in 2006 as the organization’s representative for the La Libertad region in northern Peru. He began as Project Coordinator in 2010, then became Director of Projects in 2012, and later assumed the role of Director of Programs in March 2019. Throughout his various roles leading conservation teams, Ramón gained extensive experience in all phases of conservation projects, environmental education, research, and social development. He has been responsible for the design, planning, and implementation of every project that A Rocha Perú has undertaken since 2010.
Since January 2020, and with the challenges brought by the pandemic, Ramón took on the responsibility of serving as Executive Director. The difficult years that followed taught him that trust in the Creator comes before one’s abilities and that all outcomes are the work of His hands. He firmly believes that plans, strategies, direction, and resources all come from Him.
Ramón often says:
“I regret to say that I am not the most faithful Christian, but one thing I am sure of—God is always faithful.” 2 Timothy 2:13
