Aron Urpay Castro
Field Technician
Aron Urpay Castro holds a Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Natural Resources Engineering from the National Agrarian University of the Jungle (Tingo María – Huánuco). Throughout his academic journey, he developed a strong passion for environmental conservation, sustainable resource management, and working directly with local communities.
In 2025, he joined A Rocha Peru as a Field Technician for the La Libertad Dry Forest Project, bringing valuable experience in biological monitoring, forest management, protected area conservation, and community engagement.
Before joining A Rocha Peru, Aron worked as a park ranger at the Tambopata National Reserve, participating both in official roles and volunteer programs. He also worked as an assistant in wildlife rehabilitation at the Animals Paradise Serpentarium and completed professional internships with the National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR), contributing to wildlife management permits and forest plantation management in Peru’s central jungle.
He has been a Pronabec scholarship recipient and represented Peru in the Reforestamos Mexico program. In addition, he has strengthened his skills through specialized courses in plant taxonomy, biological monitoring, geospatial tools, primate identification, and wildlife research techniques in tropical forests.
For Aron, being part of A Rocha Peru represents an opportunity to continue growing both professionally and personally — putting his knowledge at the service of conservation and supporting local communities, driven by a genuine commitment to caring for God’s creation.
