Seeds of Hope (2017)A Rocha Peru La Esperanza (meaning ‘The Hope’) is a district in the city and province of Trujillo, in the La Libertad region of northern Peru. In the upper reaches of the district, local families are severely affected by extreme poverty, delinquency, domestic violence, child abuse, and poor environmental health. Here, A Rocha Peru implemented a pilot Youth Club Project as the foundation for its ‘Esperanza Peace Centre’ project starting in 2017. Harvesting hope: Year Three (2017)A Rocha Peru Since 2014, A Rocha Peru, in partnership with ContourGlobal, has reforested 12 hectares of dry forest and has been promoting social development in Talara, northern Peru. This video tells the story of the third year of the project, narrated by those involved in the project, such as Victor, the Vicepresident of the environmental club ‘A Rocha Kids’ and Ilmer, a field worker from one the neighbourhood councils in Talara. We explore the impact that reforestation has had for native flora and fauna, including the natural regeneration of native plants, and the increase of active nests belonging to the endangered Peruvian Plantcutter bird.
